Auckland is holding a series of free events to celebrate the return of the V8 Supercars, including a drive-in movie and the opportunity to meet V8 Supercars champion drivers.

The free V8 Supercars Drive-in Movie is taking place at Auckland’s ASB Showgrounds on Saturday, October 31. While tickets have already been allocated, you can add your car to the waiting list here, or just walk up on the night and sit under the pavilion. As voted by Aucklanders in an online poll hosted by The Rock FM, the movie showing on the big screen will be Fast and Furious 6. On the night, gates will open at 7pm, and the feature will start at 8.15pm. There will be live entertainment until the movie starts, food and drink stalls, and chances to win great prizes.

Also, on Thursday, November 5, you won't want to miss the V8 Supercars ITM 500 Fan Day. The day includes a driver parade up Queen Street, giving bystanders the chance to see all the drivers as they cruise up in a string of classic convertibles.

The convoy departs from Queens Wharf at 11.40am, and will arrive at Aotea Square via Mayoral Drive and Greys Ave approximately 10 minutes later under a very rarely granted green wave (green lights the whole way).

At Aotea Square there will be plenty of action, both before and after the drivers arrive, including driver signings, a classic car display, Auckland Transport display, and more. One highlight for gaming fans will be the chance to compete against V8 Supercar drivers on Xbox’s Forza 6 game, which is not set to be released until the week following the event.
