While the majority of the crowd were at the Clipsal 500 over the weekend of March 22-25 to watch a bunch of V8s push each other around for a couple hundred laps, some of the best and most interesting driving actually took place in the support classes — a secret that more and more people are cottoning on to. The likes of Jordan Cox in his stroked B16 Civic and Chris Brown pedalling a 3S-GTE-powered AE86 are becoming big hits online for their all-or-nothing driving style.

One particular battle, involving Cox and Brown, flared up in the closing laps of race two of the Improved Production Car Championship series on the Adelaide Street Circuit. We’ll let the video do the talking:

Although the EG Civic didn’t take the flag, he would go on to take second outright and first in the ‘Under two-litre’ class. If the little red hatch looks familiar to you, that’s because driver Jordan Cox gained some recognition not too long ago after putting in work at Bathurst, and taking on the giants through the corners of the mountain top.

The young peddler proves that power ain’t everything, and that knowing how to throw what you have into the corners with full commitment can pay off. Refresh your memory with this gem:

We look forward to seeing the inevitable next video from the little hatch that can — and will — knock the big boys down a notch!
