Legends of rock at Beach Hop

The crew behind Beach Hop has just announced the ‘Kiwi Rock’n’Roll Legends’ show at Repco Beach Hop 20.

Although we sometimes forget this, Repco Beach Hop is about more than just rumbling V8s and beautifully restored bodywork; it’s a celebration of all things ’50s and ’60s, and that includes music. This year, the team is honouring six Kiwi musicians who were at the top of the rock’n’roll game in its earliest years — Dinah Lee, Ray Woolf, Shane, Suzanne, Larry Morris, and Tom Sharplin.

The special show will kick off on Thursday, 26 March at the Ford Reserve (Williamson Park), with gates opening at 4.30pm. Beach Hop favourite The Recliner Rockers will fire up the crowd before the legends make their entry on stage and the clock gets wound right back to the heyday of Kiwi rock.

Tickets are on sale now and will be fairly limited, so head to beachhop.co.nz to ensure you grab a spot. Fortunately, the crew have kept things very affordable — first release tickets are $25 plus booking fee, then general release will follow at $30 plus booking fee. A small number of VIP tickets will command $50 plus booking fee. All these tickets include the $5 Festival Programme that puts you in the running to win major prizes. Kids’ tickets are $5 plus booking fee and under fives are free.
