The New Zealand Truck Show & Racing Festival at Taupo Motorsport Park will make a welcome return in 2016, following the success of last year’s event. To be held over Anzac Weekend, April 22, 23, and 24, 2016, the festival will see a range of on- and off-track action for the whole family.
Besides the always impressive-to-watch truck racing, in which around a dozen entrants are expected, a highlight of the weekend will be the new Anzac Muscle Car Invitation Cup. This will feature muscle cars from Northern Muscle Cars, Central Muscle Cars, Historic Muscle Cars, Mainland Muscle Cars, and Production Cars in an exciting five-race format over the two days.
Off track there’ll be an impressive truck show ’n’ shine and a Big Rig Grand Parade.
Drifters will also be part of the action as Ricky Lee is bringing along a crew to do some expression sessions with tyre-screaming and smoke-burning action.
The spectacular Super Motards return and Formula 3 motorcycle race classe
s will be as attention grabbing as the truck racing. The Super Motards are based on 450cc single-cylinder four-stroke dirt bikes running road rubber, and there could be some larger-engined Super Motard machines on the track in this Invitation Anzac Cup — Super Motards are always exciting to watch. Recently crowned NZ Superlite Champion Jacob Stroud (17 years old) will take on many seasoned campaigners in this exciting class that pits 450cc triples against the booming Suzuki 650cc V-twins, plus Kawasaki, Honda, and Yamaha models, and KTM 690 singles. Formula 3 promises to be a very hotly contested class as riders aim to get their hands on the first Anzac Cup trophy. For more info, visit nztruckracingfestival.co.nz.
